Anonymous asked: I was watching the news this morning and they had a quick little special on being Vegan because it's "going mainstream" now. They were talking about how Bill Clinton was going Vegan because he wanted to be healthier after his recent heart surgery. It kind of bugged me though because after the woman explained what Veganism was she went on to say "you may have a hard time with getting Vitamin B12 and Calcium". Basically with a tone like she was trying to turn people off to it.
Bleh. Veganism isn’t even about health. I mean I’m sure it helps people go vegan to toot the horn of the health benefits but it doesn’t really help strengthen the animal rights movement. I think that is the first thing I would have been bugged about.
I mean I’m sure that news reporters don’t get to pick their own stories so she may have just been assigned to cover how trendy veganism is not being a vegan herself or even interested in the topic. It is always the same when veganism is covered in mainstream media. Everyone just jokes around and talks about how hard it would be for them to give up hamburgers and shit. I see what you’re saying. So annoying.
